About the project
Companies collect and misuse personal data at scale, and since 2023 EU law on representative action gives people clear rights when that happens. In practice, almost nobody gets the deserved payout: every second application to a claim is unlawful and the time window for joining a claim is often short resulting in >90% of potential payouts going back to the defendant.
Advocated is a platform that makes collective enforcement simple. Users find open claims that fit to them, see in plain language what each one is about and what they may be owed, and join with a few steps. Users can follow the status of their claim in one place and stay informed about application windows with our claims news alert. The service is free to use, and users can make a voluntary contribution to support the platform.
Representative action only has its intended consequence on corporate wrongdoing if user rights and potential payouts are actually claimed. By giving people easy access to claims and increasing the distribution of these lawsuits, we aim to make representative action the powerful tool it was designed to be.
In the team's words
Visibility: We want to reach users, partners and funders who care about consumer rights in Europe.
Feedback: We're about to build subscriptions for services like data deletion and automated claims processing. We want hard questions from the jury about our business model and tech milestones.
Proof that this model works: We are launching the product at GenAI Berlin with the claims processing and voluntary contribution model, and want to see firsthand results from exposure to a suitable audience.
